What do you immediately notice when you meet a person for the first time?

Whether or not they have a head.

I left the following comment on Fears, Regrets, Desires after Halcyon discussed sports and the fandom behind it. I don't often speak of my brother because it's painful. But, you see, The Steelers are going to the Superbowl and all I want in the whole world is to share that with my brother.

Football (The Steelers) is important to me for the following reason:

I always saw football as some ogre game for mindless males. My older brother, however, is a huge Steelers fan. My brother is also an addict in the drug sense.

During one of his many recovery stints he lived with me. He was clean, sober and the human I always knew he could be. In that time, he taught me about football. He gave me all I needed to know about the game and never laughed at my ridiculous girl questions (ie. Why do they run INTO the pile of people instead of running AROUND them). I became a true fan mostly because he made watching the games so fun.

My brother has since relapsed in a big way, thus (painfully) forcing me to end all contact with him. Football is all I have left of him.

So I watch The Steelers, while eating various fried foods and cheer when they win and bitch when they lose because... I know somewhere, wherever he is, clean or using, that he is watching the same game at the same time and wishing he was watching it with me... just like I wish I was watching with him.

There's a possibility he could read this. If so... I love you immensely.

What have you changed your mind about recently? What caused you to do so?

I always said I would never get on a plane, ever. Even when I had a boyfriend on the other side of the planet, he would come visit me so I didn't have to have a Rainman attack for a 14 hour long flight. Now with my new found oldness and a pending super rad vacation, I have changed my mind. I will go on a plane.

What's the worst way you've ever been broken up with?

"It's been a pleasure."

What's your favorite winter activity?

Hibernating. I dislike the cold to such a degree that I won't leave the house at all in the winter months. There really isn't a need to. Internet and delivery was invented for a reason.

What was the best date you went on in high school?

I didn't date in high school. Thanks so much for reminding me.
